Scottish monarchy

The Scottish monarchy is the royal institution in Scotland, dating back over a thousand years. It began with early kings like Kenneth MacAlpin, who united various Scottish tribes. Although Scotland became part of the United Kingdom in 1707, it retains a distinct royal heritage. The current monarch, as of my last update, is Charles III, who succeeded his mother, Queen Elizabeth II. The monarchy symbolizes Scotland's history and identity, participating in state ceremonies and public events. Additionally, Scotland has its own Parliament, which governs many aspects of Scottish life, independent of the UK Parliament in Westminster.
