Schlieffen Plan

The Schlieffen Plan was Germany's military strategy at the start of World War I. It aimed for a quick victory by invading France through Belgium, hoping to defeat France swiftly before turning to fight Russia. The plan relied on rapid troop movements and coordination, anticipating that Russia would take longer to mobilize. However, the plan failed due to unexpected resistance in Belgium, strong Allied defense, and logistical challenges. This ultimately contributed to a prolonged and grueling trench warfare that characterized much of the war, leading to significant loss of life and altering the course of the conflict.
