Sarcasm

Sarcasm is a form of verbal irony where someone says the opposite of what they really mean, often to add humor or express contempt. For example, if it’s pouring rain and someone says, “What a lovely day,” they are not actually complimenting the weather. Sarcasm relies on tone of voice, context, and shared understanding; it can convey feelings of frustration, amusement, or mockery. While it can enhance communication, it may also lead to misunderstandings if the listener does not recognize the intended meaning.
