Sarah Moore Grimké
Sarah Moore Grimké (1792–1873) was an American abolitionist and women's rights advocate, born into a wealthy Southern family. Rejecting the norms of her time, she became a vocal critic of slavery and sought equality for women. Alongside her sister Angelina, she wrote influential letters and speeches that highlighted the moral imperative to end slavery and promote women’s rights. Grimké's work laid important groundwork for both the abolitionist movement and the early feminist movement, emphasizing the interconnectedness of social justice for all. Her writings helped to inspire future generations in the fight for civil rights and gender equality.
