Sangam

Sangam refers to a significant period in Tamil history, approximately from 300 BCE to 300 CE, marked by the flourishing of Tamil literature and culture. It was characterized by the gathering or "meeting" (Sangam) of poets, scholars, and thinkers in ancient Tamil Nadu, primarily in three legendary assemblies. This era produced impressive literary works known as Sangam literature, which includes poems about love, valor, nature, and ethical themes. The Sangam period laid the foundation for Tamil language and culture, influencing subsequent generations and contributing to the rich heritage of South India.
