Saint Sebastian
Saint Sebastian was a Christian martyr from the early 3rd century, celebrated for his courage and faith. He was an elite Roman soldier who secretly helped fellow Christians during a time of persecution. When his faith was discovered, he was sentenced to be executed by archers. Miraculously, he survived the arrow attack, only to be later executed by other means. He is often depicted in art tied to a post or tree, shot with arrows, symbolizing steadfastness under persecution. Saint Sebastian is regarded as a patron saint of athletes, soldiers, and those suffering from plague or illness.
