Saint Demetrius, also known as Saint Demetrius of Thessalonica, is a Christian martyr and the patron saint of Thessaloniki, Greece. He is celebrated for his bravery and faith during the Roman Empire, particularly for opposing the persecution of Christians. According to tradition, he was imprisoned and eventually executed for his beliefs around the early 4th century. His feast day is observed on October 26.
