Russian history
Russian history spans over a millennium, beginning with the establishment of Kievan Rus in the 9th century. It evolved through the Mongol invasion and the rise of Moscow, leading to the formation of the Tsardom of Russia. The Romanov dynasty ruled from the 17th century until the 1917 Revolution, which ended the monarchy and led to the creation of the Soviet Union. The USSR became a superpower but faced internal challenges, culminating in its dissolution in 1991. Since then, Russia has emerged as an influential state, navigating post-Soviet transitions and complex international relations.
