Roy Bryant

Roy Bryant was an American figure known for his involvement in the murder of Emmett Till, a 14-year-old African American boy, in 1955. The case drew national attention and became a catalyst for the Civil Rights Movement. Bryant, along with his half-brother, was accused of kidnapping and killing Till after he allegedly whistled at Bryant's wife, Carolyn. Despite overwhelming evidence, they were acquitted by an all-white jury. This shocking verdict and the brutal nature of the crime highlighted racial injustices in the United States and spurred increased activism for civil rights.
