Robert Taylor Homes
Robert Taylor Homes was a public housing project located on the South Side of Chicago, constructed in the 1960s. It consisted of high-rise buildings intended to provide affordable housing for low-income families. However, over time, it became associated with social challenges, including crime, poverty, and deteriorating living conditions. By the late 1990s and early 2000s, the buildings were largely demolished as part of a broader initiative to revitalize urban areas and replace outdated housing projects with more integrated and sustainable developments. The site now reflects efforts to create mixed-income communities that offer better living conditions.
