Robert Maunder
Robert Maunder was a 17th-century English astronomer known for his work in solar physics. He is best remembered for the Maunder Minimum, a period from about 1645 to 1715 when sunspot activity was notably low. This phenomenon coincided with the Little Ice Age, a time of cooler climate in Europe. Maunder’s research highlighted the relationship between solar activity and climate. His work has contributed to our understanding of how solar cycles can influence Earth’s weather and climate patterns. Maunder's observations remain significant in the fields of astronomy and climatology today.
