Robert Curthose

Robert Curthose, also known as Robert II of Normandy, was the son of William the Conqueror and became Duke of Normandy after his father's death in 1087. Known for his adventurous spirit, he led several military campaigns, including a notable crusade. His reign was marked by conflicts with his brothers and struggles for power, particularly against his younger brother, Henry I of England. Robert's lack of political acumen ultimately led to his capture and imprisonment by Henry. He is remembered as a complex figure whose ambitions were overshadowed by his inability to effectively govern.
