Revolutionary Committees

Revolutionary Committees were groups established during times of political upheaval, particularly following the Cuban Revolution in 1959. Their primary role was to promote and defend the revolutionary ideals of a government, often by organizing community activities, implementing policies, and mobilizing grassroots support. They played a key part in social and political transformation, addressing issues like education, health, and security. Although aimed at fostering grassroots participation, they sometimes became associated with repression and surveillance, as they monitored dissent and enforced loyalty to the revolutionary regime. Their legacy is a mix of social progress and controversial practices.
