Retinal Image
A retinal image refers to the picture that forms on the retina, a thin layer of tissue at the back of the eye, when light enters through the lens. This image is essentially an upside-down version of what we see in the world, as the lens focuses the light onto the retina. The retina then converts this light into electrical signals, which travel through the optic nerve to the brain, where they are interpreted as the images we perceive. Understanding retinal images is fundamental to how we see and process visual information.
