Respiratory Allergies

Respiratory allergies occur when the immune system reacts to allergens in the air, such as pollen, pet dander, dust mites, or mold. When a person with respiratory allergies inhales these substances, their body mistakenly identifies them as harmful, triggering symptoms like sneezing, runny nose, coughing, and wheezing. This reaction is due to the release of histamines and other chemicals in the body. Common respiratory allergies include hay fever and asthma exacerbated by allergens. Managing these allergies often involves avoiding triggers, using antihistamines, or receiving immunotherapy to reduce sensitivity over time.
