Red Turban Rebellion
The Red Turban Rebellion (1351–1368) was a major Chinese uprising against the Mongol-led Yuan Dynasty. Inspired by Buddhist millenarian beliefs and social unrest, rebels wore red turbans as a symbol of resistance. The movement grew in strength, contributing to the Yuan Dynasty’s decline. Eventually, Han Chinese rebels, led by Zhu Yuanzhang, overthrew the Mongols, founding the Ming Dynasty. The rebellion was a pivotal factor in China's transition from Mongol rule to native Han Chinese governance, reflecting widespread dissatisfaction and the desire for restoration of traditional Chinese sovereignty.
