
Raja Ram Mohan Roy
Raja Ram Mohan Roy (1772–1833) was a prominent Indian reformer and thinker who played a key role in challenging social injustices and promoting modern ideas in 19th-century India. He is known as the "Father of the Indian Renaissance" for advocating education, women's rights, and the abolition of outdated practices like sati (the widow burning). Roy worked to reduce religious conflicts by encouraging rational thinking and criticized oppressive traditions rooted in colonial rule. Through his efforts, he helped modernize Indian society, fostered social reform, and laid the foundation for India’s ongoing efforts toward social equality and progress.
