Qumran

Qumran is an archaeological site located near the Dead Sea in Israel, famous for the discovery of the Dead Sea Scrolls between 1947 and 1956. These ancient scrolls, dating from around 200 BCE to 70 CE, include biblical texts and other writings that offer insight into Jewish history and religion during that period. The site is believed to have been a communal settlement, possibly associated with a Jewish sect like the Essenes. Qumran's discoveries have greatly enhanced understanding of early Jewish beliefs and the development of the Hebrew Bible.
