Quetelet Index

The Quetelet Index, commonly known as Body Mass Index (BMI), is a simple formula used to assess body weight relative to height. It is calculated by dividing a person's weight in kilograms by the square of their height in meters. The resulting number helps categorize individuals as underweight, normal weight, overweight, or obese. While it is a useful tool for gauging general health trends in populations, it does not account for factors like muscle mass or body composition, so it should be one of several indicators when evaluating overall health.
