Prader-Willi Syndrome
Prader-Willi Syndrome is a genetic disorder caused by the loss of function of specific genes on chromosome 15. It leads to a range of physical, behavioral, and cognitive issues, including constant hunger, which can cause severe overeating and obesity. Individuals may also have reduced muscle tone, learning difficulties, and behavioral challenges such as stubbornness and temper outbursts. The condition’s symptoms develop gradually, with early issues like poor muscle strength in infancy, followed by insatiable appetite in childhood. Management involves hormonal therapy, nutritional guidance, behavioral support, and educational interventions to improve quality of life.
