Polish People's Republic

The Polish People's Republic was the official name of Poland from 1952 to 1989, during which the country was a socialist state aligned with the Soviet Union. It was characterized by a centralized government controlled by the Communist Party, with state ownership of industries and agriculture. Despite some economic growth, it faced political repression, limited personal freedoms, and shortages. The regime ended with a peaceful transition to democracy in 1989, marked by the rise of Solidarity, an independent trade union movement, leading to the establishment of the modern democratic Poland we know today.
