
Pliny the Younger
Pliny the Younger was a Roman lawyer, politician, and writer who lived from around 61 to 113 AD. He is best known for his letters, which provide valuable insights into life in ancient Rome, including politics, society, and culture. His correspondence with the historian Tacitus and the Emperor Trajan reveals details about early Christianity and administrative practices. Pliny also documented the eruption of Mount Vesuvius in 79 AD, which destroyed Pompeii, through letters to the historian Tacitus. His writings are important historical sources that illustrate both personal and public aspects of Roman life.
