Platonic Academy

The Platonic Academy, founded by the philosopher Plato around 387 BC in Athens, was one of the earliest institutions of higher learning in the Western world. It focused on philosophical inquiry, mathematics, and the study of natural sciences. The academy aimed to explore fundamental questions about existence, knowledge, and ethics through dialogue and debate. Notable thinkers, including Aristotle, studied there. The teachings emphasized the importance of reason and the pursuit of truth. The Academy continued for many centuries, influencing theology, philosophy, and education until its decline around the 6th century AD.
