Phosphate

Phosphate is a chemical compound that contains the element phosphorus, usually found in the form of phosphate ions (PO4^3-). It is essential for living organisms, playing a crucial role in biological processes such as energy transfer (through ATP), DNA and RNA synthesis, and cellular functions. Phosphates are commonly found in fertilizers, as they promote plant growth. In nature, they are present in rocks and minerals, and they can also contribute to environmental issues, like water pollution, when they run off into rivers and lakes, leading to excessive algal blooms.
