Phagocytic System Defects

Phagocytic system defects refer to problems in the immune system that prevent certain white blood cells, called phagocytes, from functioning properly. Phagocytes are responsible for engulfing and destroying harmful pathogens like bacteria and viruses. When these cells don't work effectively due to genetic issues or other factors, the body becomes more vulnerable to infections. This condition is part of a broader category known as immunodeficiency disorders, which means the immune system is not able to protect the body as well as it should. As a result, individuals with these defects may experience frequent and severe infections.
