Persian Gulf War
The Persian Gulf War, also known as the Gulf War, occurred from 1990 to 1991 when Iraq, led by President Saddam Hussein, invaded Kuwait. The United Nations condemned the invasion and imposed economic sanctions on Iraq. In response, a U.S.-led coalition of countries launched Operation Desert Storm in January 1991 to liberate Kuwait. The military campaign relied heavily on airpower and resulted in a swift Iraqi defeat by February 1991. The war highlighted issues of oil dependence, regional stability, and international cooperation but left lingering tensions in the Middle East.
