Pershing II
The Pershing II was a type of missile developed by the United States during the Cold War. It was a medium-range ballistic missile designed to carry nuclear warheads and was known for its accuracy and fast deployment. Introduced in the early 1980s, it played a significant role in U.S. defense strategy against the Soviet Union. Its deployment in Europe led to considerable tension and fears of escalation in the arms race. The missile was ultimately dismantled under the Intermediate-Range Nuclear Forces Treaty (INF) in 1987, which aimed to reduce the nuclear threat between the two superpowers.
