People Power Revolution
The People Power Revolution, also known as the EDSA Revolution, took place in the Philippines in February 1986. It was a peaceful mass uprising where millions of Filipinos gathered on Epifanio de los Santos Avenue (EDSA) to protest against the dictatorship of President Ferdinand Marcos, who had ruled for over 20 years. The movement successfully led to Marcos fleeing the country and the restoration of democracy. The revolution is celebrated for its non-violent approach, showcasing the power of collective action and civil resistance in achieving political change. It remains a significant event in Philippine history and a symbol of democratic ideals.
