Peano Arithmetic

Peano Arithmetic is a foundational system for mathematics based on a set of basic principles about natural numbers (0, 1, 2,...) and their properties. Developed by mathematician Giuseppe Peano in the 19th century, it uses a few simple axioms—like the idea that every number has a successor— to build the rules of addition and multiplication. This system helps establish a formal way to prove mathematical statements about whole numbers and forms the basis for more complex mathematical theories, ensuring consistency and clarity in the study of arithmetic.
