PCL (Posterior Cruciate Ligament)

The Posterior Cruciate Ligament (PCL) is one of the key ligaments inside the knee joint that helps stabilize the knee. It connects the back part of the shinbone (tibia) to the thighbone (femur). The PCL prevents the tibia from sliding backward under the femur and provides stability when walking or moving the knee. It is strong and can be injured through falls, direct blows, or sudden changes in movement. While PCL injuries are less common than other knee injuries, they can cause pain, swelling, and instability, often requiring rest, therapy, or sometimes surgery for proper recovery.
