Parthenon Marbles

The Parthenon Marbles are a collection of classical Greek sculptures and architectural pieces originally part of the Parthenon temple on the Acropolis of Athens. Created in the 5th century BC, they showcase the artistry of ancient Greece, featuring figures from mythology and historical events. In the early 19th century, Lord Elgin, a British diplomat, removed many of these marbles and brought them to the UK. They are now housed in the British Museum. The ownership and cultural significance of the Marbles have sparked ongoing debates, with Greece seeking their return as a symbol of national heritage.
