Oxygenic photosynthesis
Oxygenic photosynthesis is the process by which plants, algae, and certain bacteria convert sunlight into energy. They use sunlight to transform water and carbon dioxide into glucose (a sugar) for food. During this process, oxygen is produced as a byproduct and released into the air. Essentially, these organisms capture sunlight, use it to make their own food, and replenish Earth's oxygen supply, supporting most life on the planet.
