Organization of Afro-American Unity

The Organization of Afro-American Unity (OAAU) was founded in 1964 by Malcolm X to promote solidarity, civil rights, and empowerment among people of African descent. It aimed to unite African Americans and Africans, foster cultural pride, and advocate for social justice and economic advancement. The organization sought to address issues like racial inequality, discrimination, and political representation, encouraging African Americans to take pride in their heritage and work collectively for improved rights. Though short-lived, OAAU emphasized unity, self-determination, and cultural awareness as keys to advancing the freedoms and dignity of Black people worldwide.
