Operation Desert Shield

Operation Desert Shield was a military operation that began in August 1990, in response to Iraq's invasion of Kuwait. The United States, along with a coalition of allied nations, deployed troops to protect Saudi Arabia from potential Iraqi aggression. The operation aimed to deter further Iraqi expansion and to stabilize the region. It set the stage for Operation Desert Storm, which would follow in January 1991, leading to the liberation of Kuwait. Desert Shield emphasized international cooperation and showcased military readiness in the face of aggression.
