Office of Financial Stability

The Office of Financial Stability (OFS) is a branch of the U.S. Department of the Treasury, primarily created to manage and oversee financial programs aimed at stabilizing the economy, especially during crises. It was established in the wake of the 2008 financial crisis to implement strategies that support financial recovery, such as the Troubled Asset Relief Program (TARP). The OFS works to promote stability in the financial system, ensuring that banks and other financial institutions can operate effectively, which in turn helps protect jobs and support the economy as a whole.
