Octavian, also known as Augustus, was the first Roman emperor, ruling from 27 BC until his death in AD 14. He carefully consolidated power after Julius Caesar’s assassination, transforming the Roman Republic into an empire. Octavian implemented political structures that maintained stability and expanded Rome’s territories. His reign marked the beginning of the Roman Empire, characterized by peace and prosperity known as the Pax Romana.
