Northwest Passage
The Northwest Passage is a route through the Arctic Ocean connecting the Atlantic and Pacific Oceans along the northern coast of North America. Historically, explorers sought it as a shorter maritime route to Asia, but it remains challenging due to thick ice and unpredictable weather. In recent years, melting sea ice from climate change has made parts of this passage more navigable, raising interest for shipping and resource exploration. However, it is still mostly unpassable during winter months and requires specialized ships and conditions, making it more of a potential shortcut than a routinely used route.
