North Eastern Council
The North Eastern Council (NEC) is a regional planning body in India established in 1971, aimed at promoting socio-economic development in the northeastern states. Comprising eight states—Arunachal Pradesh, Assam, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, Tripura, and Sikkim—the NEC facilitates cooperation among these states and the central government. It focuses on areas like infrastructure, health, education, and tourism to enhance the region's growth and stability. The council works to address the unique challenges faced by the northeastern states, fostering sustainable development and regional integration.
