Nordic history

Nordic history encompasses the cultural and political developments of the Scandinavian countries: Denmark, Norway, Sweden, Finland, and Iceland. It includes the Viking Age (circa 793-1066), when Norse explorers and warriors expanded across Europe. Following the Viking period, the region saw the establishment of kingdoms and the spread of Christianity. The 19th century brought nationalism and independence movements. In the 20th century, Nordic countries promoted welfare systems and collaboration, exemplified by the Nordic Council. Today, they are known for high living standards, progressive policies, and a strong commitment to social democracy and environmental sustainability.
