Non-stress test (NST)
A Non-Stress Test (NST) is a simple prenatal test used to monitor a baby's health during pregnancy. It measures the baby's heart rate in response to their movements. During the test, a healthcare provider places sensors on the mother's abdomen to detect the baby's heartbeat and any movements. If the baby's heart rate increases with movement, it's a positive sign of well-being. NSTs are typically done in the third trimester, especially when there are concerns about the baby’s health, and are non-invasive and safe for both the mother and the baby.
