NEPA

The National Environmental Policy Act (NEPA), enacted in 1970, requires U.S. federal agencies to assess the environmental impacts of their actions before proceeding. This process involves evaluating potential effects on air, water, wildlife, and public health, and often includes public input. The goal is to ensure that decisions are made with environmental considerations in mind, promoting sustainable development and protecting natural resources. NEPA primarily mandates Environmental Impact Statements (EIS) or Environmental Assessments (EA) for projects like infrastructure development, energy projects, and transportation plans.
