Natural Language Understanding

Natural Language Understanding (NLU) involves interpreting and processing human language in a way that machines can understand. It includes analyzing the meaning behind words, sentences, and context, much like how humans communicate. In the analytic-synthetic distinction, analytic statements are true by definition (like "All bachelors are unmarried"), whereas synthetic statements require external information (like "The sky is blue"). NLU helps machines distinguish these types and infer meanings, enabling tasks such as answering questions, translating languages, or summarizing text, thus bridging human and machine communication effectively.
