National People's Congress

The National People's Congress (NPC) is China's highest legislative body, responsible for making and amending laws, approving budgets, and overseeing the government. It consists of thousands of delegates elected from different regions and sectors, meeting annually to discuss national policies. While it is the formal legislative authority, in practice, it largely approves decisions already made by China's ruling Communist Party.
