National Liberation Army (Colombia)

The National Liberation Army (ELN) is a guerrilla group in Colombia founded in 1964, originally inspired by Marxist and liberation theology principles. It seeks to achieve social justice and armed revolutionary change, opposing the Colombian government and its economic policies, which they view as benefiting the elite. The ELN has been involved in kidnappings, extortion, and attacks on infrastructure, particularly in resource-rich regions. Over the years, it has participated in various peace talks, but challenges remain in reaching a lasting resolution to Colombia's long-standing conflict. The ELN is considered a terrorist organization by some countries.
