Myosin

Myosin is a type of motor protein found in muscle cells, responsible for converting chemical energy from ATP into mechanical movement. It interacts with actin filaments to produce contraction, enabling muscles to contract and generate force. Myosin molecules have head regions that attach to actin and tail regions that anchor within the muscle structure. During contraction, myosin heads "walk" along actin filaments, pulling them closer together. This process is essential not only for muscle movement but also for various cellular activities like division and transport of materials within cells.
