Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College

Muhammadan Anglo-Oriental College (MAO College) was established in 1875 in Aligarh, India, by Sir Syed Ahmad Khan, aiming to promote modern education among Muslims. It merged Western scientific knowledge with traditional Islamic studies, fostering a new, progressive community. MAO College played a crucial role in the Aligarh Movement, which encouraged Muslims to embrace modern education and social reform. This institution later evolved into Aligarh Muslim University (AMU) in 1920, becoming one of India's leading universities, known for its rich heritage and influential role in education and politics within the Muslim community.
