Mormon Pioneer Trail
The Mormon Pioneer Trail is a historic route in the United States that was used by members of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, also known as Mormons, in the mid-1800s. After facing persecution in the East, thousands of Mormons migrated westward to seek religious freedom, traveling primarily from Illinois to the Salt Lake Valley in Utah. The trail stretches approximately 1,300 miles and includes key landmarks and campsites. Today, it is recognized for its historical significance, and portions are preserved for education and recreation, commemorating the pioneers' journey and determination to establish a new home.
