Montserrat

Montserrat is a British Overseas Territory in the Caribbean, known for its volcanic activity, particularly the Soufrière Hills volcano, which erupted devastatingly in the 1990s. This led to the evacuation of its capital, Plymouth, and significantly altered the island’s landscape and population. Montserrat has a rich cultural heritage, influenced by both Irish and African traditions, and is sometimes referred to as “the Emerald Isle of the Caribbean” due to its lush greenery. The economy relies on tourism, as well as agriculture, particularly the cultivation of crops like mangoes and sugarcane.
