Mon Cultural Group

The Mon cultural group is an ethnic community primarily found in Myanmar (Burma) and Thailand. They are one of the oldest groups in Southeast Asia and have a rich history, dating back over a thousand years. The Mon people have their own distinct language, traditions, and beliefs, heavily influenced by Theravada Buddhism. Historically, they established the Mon Kingdom, which was influential in the region's culture and trade. Today, the Mon continue to preserve their heritage while facing challenges related to modernity and ethnic identity, striving to maintain their unique cultural practices amidst broader societal changes.
