Mizo Accord
The Mizo Accord, signed in 1986, is an agreement between the Indian government and the Mizo National Front (MNF), aimed at addressing political and social issues in Mizoram, a state in Northeast India. It marked the end of decades of insurgency and conflict stemming from demands for greater autonomy and identity. The Accord led to the recognition of Mizoram as a separate state, the establishment of development programs, and the promotion of Mizo culture and language. It played a crucial role in restoring peace and stability in the region, fostering a sense of self-governance among the Mizo people.
